Duco: The Refugees
This is a cantid shot I digitally painted in photoshop. It's still a work in progress. It's part of my "Duco" story. Basically this image is illustrating Filipino refugees in WWII.
Duco: Filipino Huts during WWII
Duco (charcoal sequence)
This is a sequence I digitally painted for a story I am creating based on a true story about my grandparents, Juanita and Sebastian during WWII in the Philippines. This sequence is when Juanita is putting charcoal on her face to "uglify" herself and make her face appear darker. The Filipino women at the time had to protect themselves from possibly becoming "comfort women" or sex slaves for the Japanese soldiers. Having "light skin" was considered beautiful. My grandma was a beautiful light skinned woman.
